Sell Gmail Data: What It's Worth to AI Companies

Thinking about whether to sell Gmail data? Get a quick estimate for your Gmail history, see what buyers pay more for, and learn how a sale works without giving up your data.

The short answer

Company Gmail is valuable when it holds years of real correspondence with customers, vendors and partners. Former employees' mailboxes add a lot. On its own, a few hundred gigabytes over several years often estimates in the tens to low hundreds of thousands of dollars, and more alongside Slack, Drive and CRM data.

Why AI companies want Gmail data

Email is where a business talks to the outside world: quoting jobs, handling complaints, negotiating with suppliers, chasing invoices. Those long threads teach AI agents how real business communication works over weeks and months, which public web text can't.

What's removed or excluded

Personal details like names, email addresses and phone numbers are removed before transfer. Mail containing client-owned confidential information, privileged legal correspondence, and health or financial records about individuals are typically excluded.

How to measure your Gmail data

The Google Workspace Admin console's user list shows storage used per account. Add up Gmail storage across all users, including former employees whose accounts are suspended rather than deleted.

How to sell or license it

  1. Don't delete anything. Keep the account active, including former employees.
  2. Note the size and history. Total Gmail storage across users from the Admin console, years of mail, and how many accounts exist.
  3. Get an estimate. Use the estimator above, or the full calculator to include your other systems.
  4. Request an offer. A direct buyer reviews a sample, prices it, and pays after anonymized delivery. Start with Polyshares, or compare buyers first.

Common questions

Can I sell my company's Gmail data?

If the company owns the Google Workspace account and the mail is about its own business, generally yes, under a license with identifying details removed. Talk to your attorney about anything sensitive.

Is personal Gmail data part of this?

No. This is about company Google Workspace accounts. Personal Gmail accounts belong to individuals.

Should I keep former employees' mailboxes?

Yes. Suspending instead of deleting keeps their history, which buyers value. Deleted accounts can't be exported.

How do I export company Gmail?

A super admin uses the Data Export tool in the Admin console. See our Gmail export guide for the steps and deadlines.
