Export Shopify Orders and Customers: Every Method

Here is how to export shopify orders for the whole company. Every order, every customer and every product, exported from Shopify admin. Here's what each export includes and how long the big ones take.

The short answer

In Shopify admin, go to Orders, click Export, choose orders by date (set the first day your store opened) and click Export orders. Exports over 50 orders are emailed to you and the store owner. Large stores can take hours: Shopify says around 400,000 items can take about 4 hours.

Step by step

01Open Orders

In Shopify admin, click Orders. Clear any filters so you're looking at all orders.

02Click Export

Click Export. In the Export orders window, choose orders by date and set the start date to when your store opened.

03Pick the file format

Under Export as, choose the CSV option that suits you. Both open in a spreadsheet.

04Export orders, then transactions

Click Export orders. Then run it again and click Export transaction histories for payment details.

05Export customers and products

Go to Customers, click Export, choose all customers. Then do the same from Products.

06Check your email

Large exports are emailed to you and the store owner. If an export fails, Shopify emails you about that too.

How to find the size of your Shopify data

The Orders page shows your total order count, and Analytics shows lifetime orders and customers. Note total orders, how many years the store has been open, and whether orders carry notes, returns and customer messages.

What a full Shopify export is worth

AI companies license company records like this to train software agents on real work. Order history shows how customers buy, return and get support over time. Years of orders with notes, refunds and repeat purchase patterns are worth more than a recent snapshot.

Export the full history, not a sample

Buyers price on depth: years of continuous history with real discussion in it. A partial export or a single report is worth far less than the complete record.

Common problems

  • Export never arrived. Check the store owner's inbox and spam. Big exports can take hours.
  • Only one page downloaded. You exported the current page. Choose orders by date instead.
  • Transaction export looks incomplete. It only covers captured payments, not authorizations.
  • Line items split across rows. That's normal. Extra items in an order appear on their own rows.
